Welcome to Information Portal Orientation! CCHS Logo

If your assigned course has an on-line component, you will be enrolled in your Information Portal course by a College representative. The faculty member may use the on-line environment in a variety of ways. The course site may be a site where course documents and resources are distributed to a site where the student submits assignments, engages in discussion forums or takes quizzes. Each course will be unique.

Make sure you enroll in this course (see menu on the left). This will grant you access to complete the assignments and take the practice quiz.

  • Topic 2

Here you would find frequently used or needed files & links that will be used in a course. These may be in a separate box and may appear in different area on a course page

    Course Documents & Web Links

  • Topic 3

Assignments may be required for the students to upload any electronic file for grading. This may include self-evaluations of performance, papers, & projects . Anything you can store on a hard drive can be submitted in response to an assignment.

The Faculty member may also assign an offiline assignment that the student completes out of class on their own time and may need to bring to a face to face class activity.

Open the CCHS Assignment and answer the questions. Save the file.

  • Topic 4

The Quiz module allows the faculty to give quizzes, tests or exams with variety of question styles.  Among them are multiple choice, true-false, and short answer questions. These can be for a grade or for practice. A quiz can have attempt limits and time limits. Each attempt is automatically marked, and the faculty can choose whether to give feedback and/or show the correct answers.

  • Topic 5

The Chat module allows participants to have a real-time synchronous discussion via the web. This is a useful way to get a different understanding of each other and the topic being discussed – the mode of using a chat room is quite different from the asynchronous forums. The Chat module contains a number of features for managing and reviewing chat discussions.

  • Topic 6

chatForums provide an environment for students and teachers to have endless group discussions on any topic. Like any discussion, there are a number of options for determining who 'speaks' and when. Teachers can restrict who is allowed to start new topics of discussion and who is able to reply. Discussions can be limited to specific time frames and the forum can be created to allow posts to be rated by teachers and/or students. Teachers can also require students to be subscribed to the discussion forum, meaning that each message posted to the forum will be e-mailed to each student in the course.

Important: Make sure you make a decision regarding your subscription to this forum. You will receive an email each time someone posts a message unless you click "No, I do not want emails for posting." This is just above the post this forum button.

  • Topic 7

choicesA Choice is very simple – the teacher asks a question and specifies a choice of multiple responses. It can be useful as a quick poll to stimulate thinking about a topic; to allow the class to vote on a direction for the course; or to gather research consent.
