Amanda Kelm, President
"HI! My name is Amanda. I began my journey here in the pre-nursing program in 2015 and now I am in my third intermediate nursing course. I have been married to my husband Jason for 13 years, we have 3 dog furbabies and 2 cat furbabies and a very energetic son named Preston. I had my son Preston who turns 5 in August almost 5 years ago at CMC Main. The wonderful experience I had in labor and delivery set the wheels in motion for me to apply to the nursing program at CCHS. Prior to nursing school I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science from Purdue University. I worked as a veterinary assistant/technician for about 12 years and 7 of those years was in emergency veterinary medicine. I love animals and they will always have my heart and hope that once I am finished with nursing school I can volunteer to help animals in need. I am so thrilled with all of the options and opportunities that being a nurse has to offer. I am new to SNA and I am very excited to serve as your SNA President".
Jenna Hill, Vice President
"I began my journey at CCHS by beginning the pre-nursing program in the summer of 2015 and am currently in my third intermediate! Like most others, I got a degree from somewhere else before beginning the road to nursing so I can definitely relate to students who have been unsure of what to do. I love all of the opportunities CCHS gives us to become as successful as possible and all of the wonderful people I have met here! When I am not studying or at school, you can usually find me at the gym, a concert, going to brunch with friends, or watching the basketball game that is on".
Jessica Harston, Treasurer
"Hey, guys! My name is Jessica Harston and I am thrilled to be your newly elected SNA Treasurer! I am currently in my third intermediate – the dreaded 152 – and have loved every second of my CCHS experience. Life outside of school consists of working at the Pineville ED and loving on my two black lab mix pups, Buck and Gabbana. They’re both rescues and have taken the role of my children since human babies are out until I can put RN behind my name. Before I decided to become a broke nursing student, I earned a degree at the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!) in Animal Science with the intent on becoming an equine veterinarian. But, life had other plans for me. Horses are still a passion of mine and I’m counting down the days until I can move mine up to Charlotte. I’m often asked why I chose nursing as a career path. The answer would be because I love healthcare whether it is animals or humans. The science paired with the caring aspect is right up my alley and I couldn’t see myself going wrong with the diversity of the nursing field. That’s enough dreaming about graduation – I can’t wait to meet everyone and have some fun promoting our school and profession"!
Samantha McCurry, Secretary
"Hi! My name is Samantha McCurry and I'm in my third intermediate at Carolinas college of health sciences. So far I love nursing school and cannot wait to graduate next May! I currently work on six tower as a health care technician at CMC Main and plan on working in the cardiac unit after graduation. I would love to work in CVRU or on 6 Tower. During my free time I love doing things outside such as swimming or biking especially at the Whitewater Center with my boyfriend, friends and family. I played soccer during my undergraduate and am always looking for a pick up game! I have made so many lifelong friends at CCHS and cannot wait to be your secretary".
Stephanie Salgado, Marketing Chair
"My name is Stephanie Salgado! I started the nursing program at CCHS in the Fall of 2016 and I will be graduating in May of 2018! And just five short months after graduation, I am getting married! I currently work in the Emergency Department at CMC-U as a Healthcare Tech and love every minute of it. There are so many opportunities that I am blessed to learn from in the ED! I hope to work in the ED or a critical care unit after graduation. When I am not studying or working, I enjoy reading a non-nursing book and being outdoors with my fiancé and three dogs! Yes… three very big dogs! I look forward to working with such a great group of future nurses"!
Alex Hill, 101 Rep
firstname.lastname@example.orgAlexandra Hill is originally from Atlanta, Ga, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Clayton State University. She relocated to North Carolina in 2012 to the Raleigh-Durham area, as it’s one of the prime locations for clinical research in the East. She relocated to Charlotte once accepted to CCHS and started here in 2016. Alexandra works for a clinical research company named Genentech, while attending CCHS full-time for nursing. As the Nursing 101 Chair, she hopes to connect with the new 101 students and give them plenty of encouragement and guidance. She is not too far removed from the process and understands that from experience, support from peers can provide a glimmer of hope! Alexandra will be available to help the incoming 101 students adjust to nursing school and what will be expected of them. She is available if you have questions, need help, or just want to talk. In her spare time she loves to read, lounge by the pool, try new recipes, and go the gym – she is also a big fan of Harry Potter! Please feel free to stop her in the halls and say hello!
